Apple Raisin Oatmeal

Author:
Recipe type: Oatmeal
Serves: 1 serving
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup old fashioned oats
  • 1½ cup milk of choice (I used almond milk.)
  • 1 medium apple, cubed
  • 3 Tablespoons raisins
  • 1-2 Tablespoons honey, maple syrup or agave nectar
Instructions
  1. In a medium frying pan, toast oats over medium heat for 2 minutes.
  2. Pour in milk, apple cubes and raisins and bring to a simmer. Continue to cook until milk starts to boil (about 15-20 minutes), stirring continually to keep from sticking to the pan. Then lower heat to low and continue to cook until milk is almost completely absorbed (about 10 minutes.)
  3. Stir in sweetener of choice and transfer to a medium bowl.
  4. Serve hot. (I like to pour more milk in.)
Notes
These instructions only work for old-fashioned oats or rolled oats. Quick cooking and steel-cut oats are cooked differently.
